Justin Chew receives 2016-17 TA award

The 2016-2017 Teaching Prize for the best performance by a BSD graduate student who is TAing in fulfillment of the Divisional Teaching Requirement was awarded to Justin Chew (Interdisciplinary Scientist Training Program).

Justin Chew has just completed his PhD work and returned to Pritzker as a medical student. He receives the prize in recognition of his work as a TA in MGCB 32000, Quantitative Analysis of Cellular Dynamics, in Spring 2017. He is cited because of the very strong support from the Quatitative Analysis class, who commended him for an extraordinary job helping students understand the material; his effective lab sessions; his effort in going above and beyond to accommodate everyone in the lab section, including adapting the material to individual students’ levels; his willingness to change the format of the lab to include more introduction after taking the time to get student feedback; and his overall patience, compassion, and commitment to the students’ learning.
