Assistant Professor Sarah Cobey (Ecology and Evolution) has received a prestigious NIH Director's New Innovator Award. She will receive $2.1 million over five years to investigate how the immune system evolves protection against pathogens such as influenza. She hopes to apply tools from ecology and evolution and evolutionary biology to the immune system and examine the implications for vaccination strategies and pathogen evolution on a global scale
