Autumn internships from myCHOICE now open including new Science and Social Justice internship

myCHOICE, our career exposure and opportunity program, has 14 part-time internships available for the fall covering a wide range of career opportunities, ranging from biotechnology analyst and science writing and digital media intern to the opportunity to learn about conservation planning, research and data analysis at the Morton Arboretum.

New for Autumn Quarter is an internship for a person with a deep interest in diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Mentored by Victoria Prince, Professor of Organismal Biology and Dean for Graduate Affairs, and Tobias Spears, Director of Diversity Initiatives, Biological Sciences Division, the Science and Social Justice intern will work under the direction of both the Office of Graduate Affairs and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to help foster a STEM agenda that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the basic sciences.

Using data, benchmarking, and other promising practices the Science and Social Justice intern will devise programs, conduct research, and partner on presentations, all with a focus on advancing social justice as a core tenet of the sciences. Specific objectives include conducting research related to Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity initiatives in science, creating diversity education programs for basic science audiences focused on anti-racism, implicit bias, and microaggressions, and advising mentors on realistic accountability measures and other ways to promote equity within science.  Learn more about myCHOICE internships and how to apply hereApplications are due Friday, September 18th at 5 pm.
