Ecology & Evolution grad student flu research covered on Medical News Today

Ecology and Evolution graduate student Rahul Subramanian not only recently published in PLOS: Computational Biology ("Universal or Specific? A Modeling-Based Comparison of Broad-Spectrum Influenza Vaccines against Conventional, Strain-Matched Vaccines"), his research has also been featured on Medical News Today.

Using mathematical models of interactions between vaccination, flu transmission, and flu virus evolution, Subramanian and his fellow researchers demonstrated that a universal vaccine could reduce evolution of new strains of influenza and bolster herd immunity. These findings could change the way influenza is managed across the globe.
