First annual Southside Science Festival seeking volunteers

The University of Chicago’s Physical Sciences Division, Biological Sciences Division, and the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering are co-organizing and hosting the first annual South Side Science Festival. This free festival will bring together the South Side and UChicago communities for a day of fun science, inspiring exchanges, live experiments and demonstrations, food, and music! The Festival will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., at the UChicago Science Quads (5734 S Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL 60637). This event is open to the public. All ages are welcome. No previous registration is necessary.

If you are a member of the UChicago community who is passionate about making a difference, we invite you to be a pivotal part of the inaugural South Side Science Festival 2022! To make it happen and welcome our South Side neighbors and community members to campus, we need your help! We welcome students, faculty, and staff from across the institution to help make this one-of-a-kind event a reality!

All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and food for helping run the event! There are two main categories of volunteers: scientific volunteers and event volunteers. Scientific volunteers will help run scientific events such as the soapbox science platforms, demos, panels, and science slam. General event volunteers will help out with running events and areas such as the welcome tents, greeting/ushering, face painting, food truck area, raffle area, Volunteer/Scientist HQ, and more! Please use this form to sign up as a general event volunteer no later than September 5th, 2022.
