The ITM 3.0 TL1 Postdoctoral Program builds on a successful five-year track record of training 18 postdoctoral fellows in clinical research and biomedical informatics. Originally launched in 2017 as a collaborative effort between the University of Chicago and Rush, the program prepares early-career scientists to become independent and team-based translational researchers.
For ITM 3.0, the program will expand to include new interdisciplinary training opportunities at UChicago, Rush, and Loyola University Chicago, integrating coursework and hands-on experience in clinical research, biomedical informatics, and public health. Fellows will benefit from faculty-mentored research, didactic instruction, and peer learning that together provide a strong foundation for advancing health toward health equity.
By offering protected research time, tuition support, and a robust mentoring environment between graduate/medical training and faculty appointment, the TL1 program strengthens the pipeline of future clinical and translational research leaders and equips them to compete successfully for faculty positions, career development awards, and independent funding.
