The Biological Sciences Division (BSD) at the University of Chicago provides three main student email listservs for messages about opportunities, announcements, and programs sponsored or coordinated by the BSD or by official student organizations recognized by the BSD and approved to send emails. To ensure that emails sent to the lists are appropriate, please review and adhere to the policies and guidelines below.
All emails are subject to review and moderation by the BSD Dean of Students’ Office. The listserv moderators reserve the right to reject messages that violate these policies, suspend users from sending future messages, and/or take further disciplinary action against anyone who abuses these guidelines.

How do I use the BSD listservs?
All messages are moderated and only relevant and compliant messages will be approved. If you plan on sending an email to the listserv, please keep the following in mind:
- Emails should include descriptive text with any images or attachments to ensure accessibility to everyone, including those using assistive technology.
- Organizations may only advertise their events a maximum of two times through the listserv.
- Promotion is restricted to established programs and events.
- Attachments of event images or PDFs may be included.
- Begin your email subject line with your organization’s abbreviation
Who can use these listservs?
Each BSD-affiliated organization should designate a single representative as the point of contact for listserv postings. This consistency benefits both moderators and recipients.
