Master’s full-time and part-time enrollment status

Students enrolled in a BSD Master’s program may attend full- or part-time as permitted by their program. Part-time status includes students enrolled half-time or less than half-time. See the student manual for student status definitions.

By default, all students will be categorized as full-time status with an assumed enrollment of 300 units each in autumn, winter, and spring quarters. Students who intend to enroll in more or less than 300 units in a quarter must complete the Change in Student Enrollment Form. This form must be completed by the close of registration week for the quarter in which the change takes effect. Once approved, the student’s new enrollment status will remain in effect for the duration of their enrollment, unless another Change in Student Enrollment Form is submitted in a subsequent quarter.

Students in programs that include summer quarter will enroll in 0 or 100 units. A Change in Student Enrollment Form is only required in summer quarter if the student deviates from the program’s default enrollment of 0 units or 100 units.

In rare cases, a student’s enrollment may change after the registration period (for example, during the add/drop period). If a student enrolls in more or fewer units than anticipated based on their current status, they must immediately submit a Change in Student Enrollment Form and email their program administrator. A change in registered units may impact a student’s scholarship disbursement. Failure to notify the program of a change to enrollment by the end of the add/drop period may result in an over/underaward of scholarship in that quarter, thereby affecting scholarship disbursement in subsequent quarters.
